So Much Happiness and Joy

Wow.  I’ve been away from the blog for the longest time since I started writing. I’ve missed all of you! I don’t write anything ahead and I simply haven’t had enough time to sit down in front of my computer. But what a monumental time we’ve had. So, let’s get caught up, ok?

We had a graduation, a birthday and the best party in the world to celebrate both.  Our Excellent Son Cameron graduated from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He had his last final on his birthday. My favorite cousin Beth and her husband Fayne joined us. Cameron’s beautiful girlfriend flew in. And then over the course of a few days some of his out-of-town best friends surprised him by showing up, too. How cool is that?  The party, originally planned as a huge backyard affair, was moved inside due to unrelenting rain. Our house was wall-to-wall, slightly damp family and friends having the BEST time.  I think we forgot to sing Happy Birthday.  I don’t think Cameron minded.

Could. Not. Be. More. Proud.

Most popular appetizer we made was this—tomato, mozzarella, basil and a homemade crouton. Yum!

Keela apparently needed a little alone time with all those people around.

After all that, Don and I switched gears and got Excellent Daughter Libby moved from Austin back to Durango (where she belongs, if you ask me) in southwestern Colorado. It was great to see her smiling face. Excellent Son Sawyer already lives there and we LOVE Durango.  Win-win for us!

The drive down to Durango is SOOO long...but beautiful!

Through all of this, the weather has been close to a nightmare.  Snow.  Rain.  More rain. The back third of the barnyard has been under water for days. In the garden, all my peppers died, but the wall o’ waters have protected the tomatoes.  Whew.

Please, please let this be the last snow of the season!

This river flowed for days out of the barnyard. Ugh.

Time in the barnyard was short but sweet between the partying and the moving and the soggy weather.  It was good to know when I was gone everyone was well taken care of by Best Neighbor In The World Joy and her kids.  They are great with the animals—that is such a load off my mind when I’m gone.

Doink was well fed in our absence!

Brandy was extra sweet to me when I got back.

There you have it. That was a lot of happiness and joy packed into ten days. We are so, so lucky. But now, I’m glad to be back, snugged into the corner of the couch, writing.  It’s my favorite place in the world 🙂

  2. Glad to see you back, with mostly great news 🙂 Snow in May, wow! We’ve had an unusually warm, dry winter/spring. Now rain off and on and everything is so green, and early! We have tons of little apples 🙂

  4. Glad to hear you have had such a great time (apart from the snow and the water), it’s good to have you back and in such good spirits. Lovely photos and I love the shorter hair style on you. Haven’t seen a photo of you since you chopped your hair, it looks great.
