Good Things Come In Small Packages

I'll be brief and to the point. BABIES! Meet the new members of the barnyard :-)  They're olive eggers. No names yet, just arrived an hour ago. Keep your fingers crossed for the eggs Rapunzel is sitting on.  They should hatch in the next few days, and then we'll have MORE BABIES! (Shared at Backyard Farming Connection, Maple Hill Hop, Tuesdays With A … [Read more...]

The Peacemaker

Ah, the goats.   I am loving watching the Littles incorporate themselves into the rhythm of the barnyard.  This experience is SO much more positive than when Jessie came to live here.  It's exactly what I was hoping for! To make things even better, Jessie has taken it upon himself to keep the peace in the barnyard.  This means one thing and one thing only - keeping Brandy in line.  I have no … [Read more...]

New Beginnings

Wow.  What a difference a week makes.  Just last Friday I noted winter was over...and we had eight inches of snow a few days later.  It's mostly all gone now, but I 'm REALLY glad I'm a slacker and hadn't planted anything in the garden yet. When we got there, the exam was brief.  Nothing had changed in the past … [Read more...]

What A Day

Well, I asked for winter to be over, and it is!  I'm not shoveling snow.  I'm not breaking ice in the water buckets.  I'm not bundled up in layers and layers of clothes.  I even stored much of my cold weather gear. Winter is boring.  But SPRING?  Oh yeah, spring is EXCITING!  Exciting...and exhausting! I spent yesterday building stuff.  A rolling wood-and-tool-storage-thingy.  I got the … [Read more...]

More Fun For Goats – Again!

My favorite people in the world, Cousin Beth and her husband Fayne, visited over the weekend. We always wind up with some kind of barnyard project to do and this time was no exception! Beth took one look at the barnyard and thought the placement of the new logs for the goats to play on could be improved. Fayne and I set about moving them around until she was happy.  This is a typical … [Read more...]
