Introducing Chicken Mama Art

Where does the time go?  Not in a deep, oh-I’m-getting-older sense.  Just the time to get all the regular stuff done!  I’m constantly amazed at the end of the day by the number of things I needed to accomplish just to keep going in the right direction.  I’m sure I’m not alone…yes? Please tell me I’m not alone!

But, the holiday decorations are up, the house is relatively clean, the bills are paid, the animals in the barnyard are happy and most days I’ve gotten a shower.

So, there’s no excuse to not move forward with a new project, one I’ve been working on for a while.  Here goes…my chickens, illustrated!

I’ve been trying to write a children’s book for a couple of years.  I asked my cousin Beth, who happens to be a phenomenal artist, if she would illustrate it.   She said yes!  She did a series of awesome watercolor sketches for the first version of the book.  However, the book has changed quite a bit, and those first illustrations don’t match the storyline anymore.  But they are WAY too good to stick in a drawer.  So we’re going to make a go at selling prints, notecards and the like featuring these cuties…

I’ve been working on the products, trying to build an online store with my limited html skills (they say it’s easy, but “they” are wrong) and getting an Etsy shop going.  I’ll also be adding some of my better barnyard pics, altered and reproduced in funky ways.  (I’ve been sending fabric through my printer…) Beth is busy making more illustrations.  Can’t wait to see what Doink will look like!

We think they’re so much fun – hope you do, too!  Launching in early 2015 – stay tuned 🙂

I think she's like a cover girl - so meet Cover Chick!

She’s a cover girl cutie!
