Last Snow? Please?

We got a big 7″ dump of heavy, wet snow earlier this week.  If there’s one good thing about spring, at least the snow doesn’t hang around for long.  I believe this was the last snow of the season. As usual, every year when I say it’s the last snow in early April, Very Excellent Husband Don tells me no way.  I’m happier with my own self-delusions, however, so the last snow it is!

Beautiful, yes. Heavy in a shovel, also yes.

I shoveled a path, also known as the Doinktona 500, in the barnyard after morning feeding. By early afternoon, it was already mostly melted and the animal children had come out to play.

Doink lead the way. It takes a while for him to pull over so others can pass. How rude of him!

He has now pulled over. I think he just wanted me to take his picture. He's such a ham. (HAHA!)

Hey! Wait for me!

Hey! Wait for me!

And they're all together as they come around Turn 3!

(Imagine the voice of a sportscaster…)  And they’re all together as they come around Turn 3!  OMG!  Looks like the pig may be in a spinout!

Nope. He's just fine. And gorgeous. Isn't he gorgeous?

There's an unexpected hazard at the finish line. (The title of this is Two Heads and A Tail!)

There’s an unexpected hazard at the finish line, because Brandy has no sense of the rules of the game.   But she’s got great ears, so we still love her.

All the photographs are slightly out of focus.  Sometimes it’s me.  Sometimes it’s Jessie CONSTANTLY shoving me around…

If. I. Can. Just. Get. To. The. Treat. I'll. Stop.

If. I. Can. Just. Get. To. The. Treat. I’ll. Stop. Pushing. You. Promise.

Here’s to the arrival of spring.  Because after spring comes summer, my favorite season. And mostly, here’s to somehow winding up with the best animal friends in the world living in my barnyard.

I know I say this all the time, but I am so lucky.

  4. Wow – more snow?! It’s been a very mild winter here in Italy and I’m so glad Spring has finally arrived. Two years ago we had six feet deep snow for three solid weeks – yuk. My husband also dug a path out of it for us, the dogs and the chickens – it took him two solid days. Loving your super-pigway path! 🙂

  5. I really love your blog it usually always makes me smile. I hope it is the last snow. I love all our animals too and it is nice to see how much you love yours!
