Ten Reasons I Love My Pig Doink

In an attempt not to drown in photos, I’ve been trying to make sense of my iPhoto library. I’ve divided it in two, so now I have a library full of photos of humans and one full of photos of animals.  The animal library is twice as big as the human one.  I think that’s because digital cameras weren’t invented when the kids were young.  I may be kidding myself.

In sifting through the thousands of photos I was struck how every time I looked at one of Doink, I smiled.  Even the bad ones.  So although I’m not a fan of top ten lists, I couldn’t help myself.  Here goes…Ten Reasons I Love Doink!

10.  He shares with others.

There's always a couple of nibbles for the chickens.

You eat, I’ll drink.  Then we’ll switch.

9.  He is curious.

Hmm...maybe there's something to eat at the bottom of the bucket?

Brandy, you be the lookout while I see what’s in here!

8.  He’s secure in his masculinity.

Yes, I am wearing my bathrobe outside. You got a problem with that?

7.  If he’s having a bad day, he knows how to take care of himself.

Just give me a minute, ok?

6.  He’s not afraid of being silly sometimes.

Yes, I'm sitting in the water bowl. Go ahead, laugh!

5.  He knows a relaxed pig is a healthy pig.

It's pool day! Come on everyone!

4.  He has the best tail in the world.

It's just my tail, lady. But it you like it, great!

3.  He has a way with straw.

2.  He is a good friend.

He loves Brandy. And Brandy loves him.

Every chicken has had a heart-to-heart with Doink.  He makes them all feel better.

1.  He’s smart, he’s sweet, he’s kind-hearted…and he’s mine.

  9. I love, love, love Doink! He is such a lesson to us all – so content in his own skin. 🙂 I always look forward to his stories and he always, every time, brings a smile to my face. He should have his own Facebook page! Give him a pat from me (if he likes a pat, that is) – if I lived closer I would love to give him one myself.

Thank you (and Doink) for starting my day with a smile. 🙂
